The Gentleman Jewel Thief The Hope Diamond Trilogy Jessica Peterson Books
Sorry Jessica. Before you introduce the king and the whole "hope" diamond, your characters have to make sense. The heroine in this story was not only inconsistent, she was downright annoying. (The reader can almost tell where the author took a break from writing and then later sat down with a new attitude about the characters.) We're repeatedly told how intelligent she is, yet she isn't smart enough to foresee that ratting out her sweetheart will cause trouble for him. Acrobatic midgets? "Despoiling" the 22 year-old beautiful, brilliant independent, heroine-virgin on the kitchen table? geesh. And the hero steals, just for fun? Give me a break. Fun romp? Hardly. More like: annoying mess. (But I've read worse, thus I saved the one-star rating.)Tags : Amazon.com: The Gentleman Jewel Thief (The Hope Diamond Trilogy) (9780425272077): Jessica Peterson: Books,Jessica Peterson,The Gentleman Jewel Thief (The Hope Diamond Trilogy),Berkley,0425272079,Romance - Historical - Regency,Aristocracy (Social class);Fiction.,Jewelry theft;Fiction.,Regency fiction.,AMERICAN HISTORICAL FICTION,AMERICAN LIGHT ROMANTIC FICTION,Aristocracy (Social class),FICTION Crime,FICTION Historical General,FICTION Romance Historical Regency,Fiction,Fiction - Romance,Fiction-Romance,FictionRomance - Historical - General,General Adult,Great BritainBritish Isles,Historical romance,Jewelry theft,MASS MARKET,Regency novels,Romance - Historical - General,RomanceRegency,Romance: Regency,Sets, any number,United States, historical romance;romance;historical;regency romance;love;romance novels;romance books;historical fiction books;crime;historical fiction novels;crime books;alternate history;crime fiction;historical fiction;fiction;novels;fiction books;historical novels;books fiction;books historical fiction;historical romance books;regency romance books;collusion;crime novels;england;mystery;victorian;relationships;drama;romantic suspense;spies;anthology;paranormal;historical mystery;short stories, romance; historical romance; regency romance; historical; books for women; women's fiction; historical fiction; victorian; suspense; relationship books; relationships; relationship; family; love story; romance novels; marriage; historical fiction books; historical romance books; crime books; crime; fiction; fiction books; romance books; historical fiction novels; regency; england; mystery; love; novella; 19th century; 18th century; romantic suspense; romantic; anthology; spies; drama; pirates; time travel; revenge; coulter,FICTION Crime,FICTION Historical General,FICTION Romance Historical Regency,FictionRomance - Historical - General,Romance - Historical - General,Fiction - Romance,American Historical Fiction,American Light Romantic Fiction,Aristocracy (Social class),Jewelry theft,Regency novels,Fiction,Romance: Regency,Historical romance
The Gentleman Jewel Thief The Hope Diamond Trilogy Jessica Peterson Books Reviews
Such a fun fun book to read I laughed out loud throughout the book... I hope nobody was listening but kitty!!!LOVED the humor ...I look forward to the next Diamond Trilogy!
It was a good idea for a story but it was not very well written, often repetitive.
Boringly predictable! Worked out the whole story by end of 2nd chapter. Failed to connect with the main characters & the suspense built up....was a resounding flatline. Zzzzzzz
This was a fun romp! I actually gasped out loud at one point. I liked the premise from the start--very Thomas Crown Affair--and found it to be unusual. It made for an interesting character! And the ending had me on the edge of my seat. I look forward to the next one!
didn't finish too boring
I enjoyed this book. The hero and heroine were very likable and the plot was interesting. The secondary characters were fun and I look forward to the next book.
I would recommend this book.
Wow! This book was so much fun and a nice surprise. I had never heard of Ms. Peterson before and, as it turns out, this is her debut novel. The whole premise of the story is a great deal of fun and, in fact, verges on being a bit over the top sometimes. The dramatic scene on the boat wavered between ridiculous and confusing.
But the characters were great. I particularly liked the hero, Earl of Harclay, who finally met his match and was finally able to admit it. Violet, the heroine, definitely was his perfect match, though she seemed to have a harder time realizing it. (Why didn't she understand all her family concerns could be solved if she just married the Earl). The real strength of this book, however, is in the writing--fast-paced, hilarious, it took you on quite a journey without giving you much time to think. I look forward to Ms. Peterson's next book--if she continues in this manner, she'll definitely be on my automatic buy list!
