Split Second Pivot Point Book 2 eBook Kasie West

I enjoyed Split Second and the fact that it gave me some closure as to what would happen with Addie after she chose her path and lost the memories of her Search in book one. She obtained new powers and connected with family members, while also uncovering secrets within her Compound. Her best friend learned a lot about the Compound and gained a sense of empathy and compassion after connecting with a boy named Connor, who had memories that couldn't be erased. Each character grew immensely and had to face major conflicts.

The concept of the Pivot Point duology was intriguing and I loved the way the author executed the plot. Addie was a likeable character. I enjoyed the fact that in both instances regarding the Norm boy, Trevor, it was never insta-love and they kind of started off as friends with a connection neither one could ignore. I completely enjoyed watching the two characters struggle with their feelings and slowly grow to realize that they were meant to be together. It was sweet, but I also loved the high stakes conflict surrounding them as well.

After reading this duology and one of the author's YA contemporary romances, I'm convinced I found a new favorite author who does a wonderful job creating stories that are full of emotion and conflict.
I loved the tests that Addie had to go through after spending the summer with her father and I enjoyed how she grew into her changing powers in order to keep everyone she cared about safe. I got all of the closure I was missing from the first book and I'm glad the story wasn't stretched out to span more books, but ended in a way that left me satisfied and happy I picked up the two books.

I highly recommend the Pivot Point duology. It's an awesome YA science fiction with an emphasis on family, friendships, and relationships. There's a reason it's so highly rated on Goodreads and was surprisingly awesome.

Split Second Pivot Point Book 2 eBook Kasie West Reviews

I really loved Pivot Point, and I was almost desperate to read the sequel as soon as I finished it. I honestly wouldn't have known what to do if I had waited more than 5 minutes to read Split Second! I am happy to say that it's just as good as Pivot Point, even though the story is completely different. This time we get alternate points of view from Addie and her best friend Laila, which admittedly turned me off a little at first. However I slowly came to appreciate Laila as well, even though she's not my favorite character, I really appreciated her loyalty towards her family and Addie, and getting to know Connor, her cool love interest.

The absolute best in this book for me, however, was reading about Addie and Trevor falling in love all over again. I also loved the story, the action scenes, and Addie's new amazing time manipulation ability. The ending was perfect too, although I wish it would have been a lot longer, I honestly could read a hundred pages more of Addie and Trevor being happy together. Highly reccommended!
Assuming whoever reads this review has already read Pivot Point (book 1), you will not be sorry reading book 2 - the POV switches between Addie and Laila, which I didn't expect to like, but it's done so well and by the middle of the book I found myself just as tied up in Laila's story as Addie's and was please to have reading time dedicated to both.

I bought this ebook after loving Pivot Point and not finding this in paperback at my local bookstore - I simply couldn't wait to read it long enough to order. (side note - I now own both books in paperback, they needed to live in my library). I've read quite a few Kasie West books now and they are generally sweet, fluffy, generally short-ish stories that I enjoy when I just need something light to make me smile. The Pivot Point books are an impressive departure from that standard that had me fully hooked on the characters, the plots and the world she'd created. I hope West write more multi-book series and explores the sort of sci-fi/fantasy-adjacent genre that she wrote these in, I think they were a great success.

Can highly recommend )
