Rating: 4 stars. I want to start off by saying that I read the first book in this series and skipped the second before reading this one. I don't feel like I missed anything by not reading the second book in the series. There were probably one or two events that happened in this that might have been explained in more detail, but really the author gave enough background that it wasn't really necessary. I really liked Evan and Cole as a couple. That being said neither were perfect. I found myself siding with Evan a bit more than Cole in this book. I did like that Cole was very self aware to his own faults. Probably a bit more than Evan. I thought that the conflict in this story was very well done. I would recommend that you at least read the first book in the series before this one. Both were really good.

Cole Morgan and Evan West decide to elope while they are in London, but everything is cut short when Evan’s grandfather dies and Evan becomes the new pack alpha. As Evan deals with his grief, he also assumes to role of alpha. Cole knows as the pack alpha’s mate, there must be certain expectations, but he finds himself unable to fall into his new role. With their marriage cracking, the two must learn to handle all that as well as sticking together.

I enjoy these two together. They are opposites in some way and yet it works for them. Evan got a bit lost for some time, working too hard and trying to do everything. Cole was his usual snarky self but needed Evan to make things perfect. Many things for them to work out – newlywed status, changes in the family structure and both taking on new jobs that caused problems – Evan as alpha and Cole as alpha mate. A bit sad at times but still fun to read. I hope there will be more in this series.
